Base notes are the staying power

A fragrance built on citrus and green notes cannot last, no matter what the label promises. Those molecules are light and they leave. If you want a scent still working at six in the evening, look at the bottom of the note list before you look at anything else.

Why does perfume fade faster in Nigeria?

Heat and humidity. Warmth speeds up evaporation, so a fragrance opens faster, projects harder for the first hour and then thins out sooner than it would in a cool climate.

How do you make any perfume last longer?

Apply to clean, slightly moisturised skin. Dry skin holds fragrance poorly, so an unscented lotion first gives the oils something to sit on.

Spray pulse points where the skin is warm: the throat, the inner elbows, behind the knees. Warmth lifts the scent through the day.

Add one spray to clothing where the fabric allows. Cotton and wool hold fragrance far longer than skin does, though be careful with silk and pale colours.
